New COVID-19 cases in Durham rose slightly to 19 yesterday but school outbreaks spiked from four Sunday to seven reported Monday.

Ajax and Oshawa each reported five new cases yesterday. There are 156 active cases in the region, which is down one from Monday, and there is one resident in hospital.

A total of 13 students from three Clarington schools, one school and one day care in Ajax and schools in Whitby and Uxbridge are home self-isolating. There are still two workplace outbreaks but long-term care homes in Durham are still COVID-free.
