Durham Region reported nine new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bring the weekly totals to 60, or 8.5 per day.

The number of Delta variants is on the rise however, with that number now at 118. And after a couple of weeks with local hospitals being virus-free, there are now two people hospitalized, though neither are in ICU.

Four of the new cases are from Oshawa, which continues to lag behind its neighbours for vaccinations, with just 61.8 per cent of the 18-plus population fully vaccinated.

Region-wide, 76.5 per cent of the 12-plus population has received at least one dose – which trails the Ontario rate – and 65 per cent of everyone over 12 in Durham is fully vaccinated.
