If you want to wow your canine companion or indulge in 90s nostalgia, you will soon be able to do that at Mississauga’s biggest festival of the lights.
The renowned illumi–A Dazzling World of Lights, which attracted several hundred thousand visitors during its first run in Mississauga from last September through to April 10, will be welcoming dogs and celebrating the 90s on two separate occasions this month.
On Sept. 15, those who fondly remember the era of boy bands, flannel shirts and extra-baggy pants can check out a “Glowback to the 90s Night.”
According to illumi’s website, attendees exploring the festival’s 14 universes–which showcase everything from dinosaurs and animals and magic lanterns to farm life, spiders and a child’s paradise–will be able to indulge in pizza, pop, 90s hits and more.
“The 600,000 square foot site will be filled with tunes that’ll have you dancing like Elaine Benes in no time,” organizers said in a statement.
“Whether you’re showing up with your F.R.I.E.N.D.S, family or significant other, there will be a touch of nostalgic magic for everyone to enjoy.”
Pet parents will also get to enjoy the light show with their furry friends on Sept. 28. While the night will be dog-friendly, people without pups are also welcome to attend.
The attraction, set up on a huge north Mississauga site equal in size to 10 football fields near Hurontario St. and Hwy. 407, first opened in September 2022.
illumi boasts about 20 million lights.
Organizers say the attraction offers an epic and extraordinary adventure for kids and adults alike.
“Visitors travel to jaw-dropping worlds through a spectacular walking journey. Inventive and surprising concepts are transposed into thousands of larger-than-life light structures that take shape with over 20 million LED bulbs,” they say.
“Cutting-edge programming technologies, high-definition projections that blur the boundaries of reality and animatronic Jurassic creatures that immerse visitors in scenes worthy of Hollywood films also make illumi the family event of the summer not to be missed.”
An illumi spokesperson said earlier this year that the company is working closely with the City of Mississauga to keep the attraction in town “potentially until 2026-27.”
The site is located at 7174 Derrycrest Dr.
General admission tickets for adults start at $22. Toddlers, children and youth tickets start at $5, $12 and $17, respectively.
