Pelham native and best-selling author Adam Shoalts will return to the Niagara Region for question-and-answer sessions on his newest book, Where the Falcon Flies.

Often described as “Canada’s Indiana Jones,” the professional adventurer and the author of four national best-selling books will be hosting six local sessions over the next month-and-a-half from Beamsville to Fort Erie and points in between.

The Brock University graduate has traveled both the world and Canada extensively, charting courses through seldom explored wildernesses, including a five-month trek walking and canoeing thousands of kilometres across the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut in 2017.

Where the Falcon Flies is a page-turning tale that takes readers on a 3,400-kilometre journey from southern Canada to the Arctic.

Inspired by the migration of a peregrine falcon, Shoalts faces a myriad of challenges, from storms on the Great Lakes to navigating white-water rapids in icy northern rivers.

The book is a sprawling insight that spans five ecoregions and centuries of fascinating history. It explores the interconnectedness of wild places, from urban parks to the northern wilderness, emphasizing the vital importance of these connections.

His book is already a #1 Amazon Bestseller and featured on Indigo/Chapter’s Most Anticipated Books List.

The upcoming sessions will be an intimate evening with the author, featuring readings, a Q&A session, and book signings.

In 2022, he was presented with the Louie Kamookak Medal for his work “making Canada better known to Canadians and the world.”

When not on expeditions, Shoalts is a popular guest speaker and has been featured in media outlets around the world, including the BBC, CNN, and CBC.

The official book launch will be held on Oct. 3 at Vieni Estate Winery (4553 Fly Rd.), sponsored by the Lincoln Pelham Public Library.

The second session will be held on Oct. 5 at The Big Red Canoe Club (165 Highway 20 W.) in the Fonthill area of Pelham.

On Oct. 10, he’ll be hosting at the Outdoors Oriented store (420 Vansickle Rd.) in St. Catharines followed by an Oct. 26 “Wine and Words with Adam Shoalts” hosted by Caroline Cellars (1010 Line 2 Rd #358) in the Virgil area of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

On Nov. 12, he’ll be in Port Colborne as part of the city’s “Archive Speaker Series,” location to be announced while he’ll finish his Niagara tour on Nov. 15 at Old Fort Erie (350 Lakeshore Rd) in an event sponsored by Niagara Parks.
