A Niagara youth faces charges after two shootings in Hamilton.

In the last two days, Hamilton Police said they have been called to two early morning shootings on Hamilton Mountain.

On Tuesday, July 7, shortly after 4:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired at a residence near Rymal Road East and Atessa Drive, police said.

There were no reported injuries. Damage was limited to a parked vehicle in the driveway and the residence. A neighbouring residence was also struck by a stray bullet, police said.

Police believe the shooting was targeted.

A white or light-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the area and travelling toward Rymal Road East following the shooting, police said.

Officers were called to the same area, Atessa Drive and Rymal Road East, for another shooting on Wednesday, July 8, shortly after midnight.

Police said officers found several shell casings in front of an Atessa Drive residence.  No one was injured in the shooting.

A vehicle of interest was located a short distance away, and the occupant was arrested.  A firearm was recovered from the vehicle, police said.

A Niagara area youth faces several firearm charges.
