There were 44 new COVID-19 cases in Niagara Region today, as well as another death from the virus, as the Delta variant continues to wreck havoc on the community. There have been 438 deaths from the virus in Niagara since March 2020.

It’s been an up-and-down week in Niagara but, unfortunately, mostly up. On Saturday, there were 19 new cases and Sunday saw 20 more. But it dipped to just four on Monday before shooting back up to 31 yesterday. At the moment, the region has 200 ongoing cases, the most since mid-July.

While St. Catharines continues to have the most cases at 51, Fort Erie jumped up overnight with 10 more new cases, bringing them up to 45 in total. Niagara Falls is next with 40 ongoing cases.

The remaining nine municipalities range from a low of three cases in West Lincoln up to nine case each in Lincoln, Thorold and Welland.
