A man from Grimsby wanted in connection to a murder in Toronto has made the list of Canada’s 25 most wanted.

Toronto Police Service and Crime Stoppers combined their forces in 2018 to create the Be on the Lookout (Bolo) Project. They rolled out a list of the Top 25 Most Wanted in April 2022, which resulted in the arrest of six suspects.

The first update to the Bolo list hit the internet on October 18 and included a familiar face, Abelmuneim Abdalla, who has been wanted since 2020.

On September 10, 2020, 26-year-old Andre Rodriguez was shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot on St. Clair Ave., just east of Jane St. in Toronto.

Police announced shortly afterwards that they had two suspects, Abdalla, then 33, and Mohamed Osman Daoud, then 34 0f St. Catharines. Both were charged with first-degree murder, but police were only able to arrest Daoud.

At the time Toronto Homicide Insp. Hank Idsinga said Abdalla was armed and dangerous. “A shooting in broad daylight, in the middle of a crowded parking lot, helped to motivate witnesses from the community to come forward to assist with the investigation,” he said at the time.

Two more suspects in their mid-20s we later arrested as well. However, Abdalla remained elusive.

More than two years after Rodriguez’s death, Abdalla is still at large. Police believe he may have altered his appearance to avoid capture. When the Bolo project released its most wanted Abdalla ranked ninth out of 25.

Anyone with information about Abdalla’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
