Niagara region has sixth highest COVID-19 positivity, surpassing Ontario

Niagara region currently has the sixth worst COVID-19 positivity in Ontario, higher than the province overall.

Toronto-based research group ICES ranked all 34 public health units in Ontario for the week of October 17 to 23. based on their percent positivity (percentage of positive tests in the area).

Niagara is listed sixth at 2.89%, while Ontario overall is listed 17th at 1.49%.

Top 15 public health units by COVID-19 percent positivity

Seven neighbourhoods in the region were among the highest for COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of October 17 was 1.5%, down 0.2% from the previous week, according to ICES’s data.

ICES noted that the overall percent positivity continued to decline, while testing has also decreased over the past week.
