Niagara police searching for Hamilton man wanted for theft, dangerous driving

Niagara police are appealing to the public for help in locating a wanted Hamilton man.

On Tuesday, August 31, officers from 8 District in Grimsby began investigating a number of property crimes involving a stolen white Ford F150 pickup truck.

“During one of the incidents, the suspect drove dangerously and failed to stop at the scene of a collision with a member of the public. The victim sustained minor injuries,” said police.

On September 2, with assistance from the public and Hamilton police, the stolen pickup was located and some stolen property recovered, including property stolen from other jurisdictions.

The suspect has been identified as 30 year old Hamilton man Douglas Funke.

“Funke’s whereabouts are currently unknown,” police said.

 An arrest warrant has been requested for the following charges:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Fail to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Operate a conveyance while disqualified
  • Break enter commit theft
  • Theft under $5, 000 (3 counts)
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation (4 counts)
