The rash of distraction thefts are continuing in Niagara Region and Niagara Police are hoping the public can help in a March 4 robbery that occurred in a Grimsby grocery store parking lot.

Police says the victim had been shopping at the Real Canadian Superstore (361 South Service Rd.) in Grimsby when she was approached by a man asking questions about the nearest hospital.

While he kept her distracted, police say an accomplice quickly stole her purse from the front seat once her vehicle was unlocked.

When the victim returned home, she realized her wallet was missing. She quickly determined that three of her credit cards had been used.

Niagara Police were able to get surveillance footage of one suspect from the store and have released them hoping the public can help.

The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man, 40 to 50 years old, 6-foot, heavy build with black hair, a black mustache and beard. He was seen wearing a grey toque, black coat, green sweatshirt with a hood, black pants with white and gold lettering down the sides and black shoes with a red sole. Photos are above and below.
