Niagara police nab suspect wanted in alleged stabbing

After a two-day search, Niagara Regional Police have found a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged stabbing that took place Sunday (June 27).

Just after 5 pm on the June 27, officers in Grimsby received a 911 call from the Big Valley Campground located at 2211 King Street in the Town of Jordan (n unincorporated township located at the eastern edge of the Town of Lincoln)

Upon arriving, police discovered a fight had broken out between two men which led to an alleged stabbing. The suspect had fled by this point. The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After an investigation, police were able to identify the suspect and today (June 29), they arrested Omar Baxter, 41, of St. Catharines.

The accused is now facing charges of assault, theft under $5,000, uttering threats, forcible confinement, attempted murder, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with probation.

None of these charges have been proven in court.
