People in retail are always told two things when it comes to robberies: Always comply with the robber (as the money is usually insured and not worth dying for) and to look for anything distinct about the person.

A suspect that held up a Circle K Store on Ferry Street near Main Street in Niagara Falls near midnight on February 11 certainly gave the clerk something unique to describe. He was wearing garbage bags over his shoes.

Police say they were told the robber lingered in the store for a while before approaching the cashier and pointing a silver handgun at him. They added that the robber further threatened the clerk by “racking” the gun, meaning pulling the slide back and letting it go to indicate the gun was ready to fire.

The clerk, who wasn’t hurt,  handed over cash to the suspect, who then reached over the counter and grabbed a handful of lottery tickets before taking off on foot.

The police closed off the area, even bringing in the K9 Unit but couldn’t find the suspect.

He is described as a white male, 5-foot-9, wearing a full black face mask, a black winter jacket with his hood up, black pants, black ski gloves and, of course, the black garbage bags over his shoes. Photos are below.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact 2 District detectives at 905-688-4111, ext 1009994.
