Niagara Police hunt for armed man who robbed Welland bank

Niagara Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a CIBC bank in Welland earlier this afternoon (May 24).

Police say at 12:35 pm, a man walked into the branch at 200 Fitch St., holding a gun and demanding cash.

While no employees were hurt, the man grabbed the cash and took off on foot, heading eastbound toward the Steve Bauer Trail that runs adjacent to Prince Charles Dr.

The police brought in both the Canine Unit and Emergency Task Unit but couldn’t track the suspect.

He is described as a white male, roughly 5-foot-4, about 40 years old with grey hair or possibly wearing a grey wig.
