A confrontation with a man trying to run from the scene has the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) looking at Niagara Police for more information surrounding his take-down and arrest.

At 2:30 am this morning (August 30), the police saw a 43-year-old man take off on foot after his car hit a curb on Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls.

The man was tased, which instantly brought him down, but he became unresponsive.

The police immediately used Narcan and CPR to revive him but he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.

The SIU is automatically brought in to investigate the conduct of police officers when an arrest leads to death or serious injury.
