A bungled attempt to steal scrap metal from a Lincoln man has lead to the arrest of two men by Niagara Police.

Police said that two thieves tried to heist the metal from the victim’s home in the King Street and Durham Road in Lincoln on December 3.

However, when the homeowner realized what was going on, he confronted the pair. The three got into an argument that got heated enough that one of the suspects pointed “a silver revolver style handgun” at the man.

Both the suspects fled the area leaving the Lincoln man unharmed.

Yesterday (December 14), Niagara Police arrested both men.

Matthew Mendolia, 31, of Port Dover was charged with armed robbery and pointing a firearm. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place today (December 15).

Tony Mendolia, 27, of Hamilton was charged with armed robbery and pointing a firearm and was released after a bail hearing yesterday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009336.
