The Niagara Parks Police are a small force, especially compared to the much-larger Niagara Regional Police.

They only patrol 56 kilometres of roadway through the Niagara Parks’ 3,274 acres of parkland so the Niagara Parks Police don’t encounter nearly as many traffic violations.

However, as it turns out, no matter what the size of your jurisdiction, the same stupid crimes occur – just in smaller numbers.

Last Night (July 17) at 5:30 pm, one of the officers saw someone driving erratically along River Road. Realizing he was spotted, he stopped his car and took off on foot into the nearest field.

There were no damages, no injuries and the police easily found him hiding in the field. A 47-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving.

It seems impaired driving is the crime that occurs the most for the Niagara Parks Police. Last November, they came upon an impaired woman who had smashed her car into a tree and was, oddly, trying her best to call 911.
