Glendale Avenue was reconfigured as a diverting diamond interchange last summer.

One of the oldest Canadian jokes in existence is the one about our country’s four seasons – autumn, winter, spring and construction.

The Glendale Ave. overpass off the QEW in Niagara-on-the-Lake was torn up for the better part of last year as they built a diverging diamond will see some similar closures over the next four to six weeks.

However, that’s just part of a larger repair job of milling and paving work along the QEW from the Garden City Skyway to Highway 405.

Highway 405 branches off the QEW heading through both Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake on the way to the Queenston-Lewiston border bridge.

Construction started yesterday (May 7) and is expected to be four to six weeks.

The repair work will see:

  • Alternating two of three lanes will be closed during nightly closures in both directions on the QEW.
  • On and off ramps will be closed periodically as required when operations are in and around the QEW/Glendale interchange.
  • Highway 405 Toronto Bound will be closed at Stanley Avenue periodically as required when operations are in and around the merging lanes of Highway 405 to QEW Toronto Bound.
  • Highway 405 Niagara Bound will be closed at the QEW periodically as required when operations are in and around the merging lanes of the QEW to Highway 405 Niagara Bound.
