The 39-year-old Niagara-on-the-Lake man arrested on October 23 by Niagara Police and charged with three different counts related to child pornography was a Niagara Falls elementary school teacher.

Upon hearing of the charges, the District School Board immediately suspended the man and has indicated that he will not be returning to the board in any capacity.

On Sunday, the Superintendent of Education, Darren VanHooydonk, immediately sent a letter to the parents of Forestview Public School where he worked since 2013, saying the news was “distressing” to all the staff of the school and understood it was “upsetting” for the families of the students.

The accused had been employed with the DSBN since 2005.
