A Niagara-on-the-Lake man seemed to have trouble controlling his pick-up truck yesterday (July 20) in Port Colborne, allegedly smashing into three separate vehicles.

Just past 7 pm, Niagara Police were called to the Elm Street and Delhi Street area after a collision was reported.

Their investigation indicated that a pick-up truck travelling southboard on Elm Street drove into a car parked on the side of the road.

Police say after that, the driver took off from the scene, pulling into a driveway and hitting another car. In fact, police say, he hit the parked car so hard that “impact caused the (vehicle) to turn sideways and was pushed up against the residence.”

From there, he continued driving south on Elm where he hit another parked car.

At three separate collisions, the man finally got out and took off on foot. The police caught up to him not long after.

Kevin Sicard, 38, of Niagara-on-the-Lake was arrested and charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, careless driving, failing to stop at a red light and driving while under suspension.

He was released and is expected to appear in court on September 22, 2021.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, ext. 1002200.
