To keep visiting tourists calm, cool and collected, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has opened a temporary indoor cooling centre in the Market Room of the Courthouse.

Located at 26 Queen Street, the air-conditioned space, located across the street from the Market Street public washroom, will be open from 12 noon to 4 pm throughout July on days when a heat alert/advisory is in effect.

The Town said in a release, “ On days when the cooling centre is open, signage will be posted in the surrounding area, and Staff will share its availability to the Town’s social media pages and website.”

In August, the temporary indoor cooling centre will move to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre located at 14 Anderson Lane.

However, NOTL is stressing that all COVID-19 protocols remain in place for the cooling centres.

“For everyone’s safety, cooling centre attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain a physical distance of two metres from anyone outside of their household.”
