For the first week or two in June, the two Niagara Falls areas marked out below will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing program, meaning residents may notice decreases in water pressure through the day.

The first area is bordered by Harovics Lane, the Hydro Canal, McLeod Road and Dorchester Road.

The second area is bordered by  Dunn Street, Niagara River Parkway, McLeod Road and Drummond Road.

The Niagara Falls hydrant flushing program started in April of 2022 and will continue into the fall of this year.

The city’s Public Works department says, “This is performed as part of a scheduled preventative maintenance program to help maintain good water quality and to improve water flow in your neighbourhood.

They added, “If discolouration occurs, running a cold water tap closest to your water meter for a short period of time should alleviate the problem.”

Updates will be provided throughout the year, as the City rotates through flushing areas. Should residents have any questions, concerns or persistent issues, contact the Municipal Service Centre at 905-356-1355.
