The words “trial mix” conjure up but one image – the healthy granola-laden mixture of nuts, dried fruits such as raisins with the occasional happy glimpse of an M&M’s.

However, on Niagara Falls’ Millennium Trail, it’s not food. It’s entertainment.

To promote local artists, Niagara Falls’ Arts and Culture Committee Members set up an elaborate series of QR Codes on posts throughout the trails two days ago.

So, what happens when trail-lovers scan that code?

“It takes you to a website and you can start listening. There’s a variety of local talent, featuring music, humour and spoken word,” said Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati. “Mix up your trail routine and listen to local artists today.”

Frankly, many would take that over a traditional handful of trail mix.
