Niagara Falls man charged following fatality in Niagara-on-the-Lake car crash

A Niagara Falls man has been charged following a fatality in a Niagara-on-the-Lake car crash in August.

On August 28, 2021, at approximately 2:19 pm, Niagara Police, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services were called to a car collision at Concession 7 Road and Line 6 Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

A 19 year old male was driving southbound on Concession 7 Road with a 19 year old female passenger. A 39 year old male was driving on Line 6 Road with a 36 year old passenger. As the 19 year old driver tried to make an eastbound turn onto Line 6 Road, both vehicles collided.

The 19 year old female passenger was killed in the collision while the driver was taken to an out of region hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Subaru was taken to an out of region hospital with serious injuries.  The 19 year old passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.

After an investigation, the older driver was arrested today (November 3).

Dimitris Marianos, 39, of Niagara Falls, has been charged with causing death by criminal negligence and causing bodily harm by criminal negligence

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place today.
