The City of Niagara Falls has just hired a new General Manager of Corporate Services but has vastly changed what that department is in its entirety.

The new GM, Shelley Darlington, will now see Corporate Service taking in the departments of Finance, Legal, Risk Management, Procurement, Communications, and Information Systems.

That means Darlington, who will start on August 12 and report directly to City CAO Jason Burgess, is now responsible for everything from cash to computers to legal matters.

Fortunately, she has more than 25 years of municipal experience under her belt, most recently holding the position of General Manager of Corporate Services at Norfolk County.

While there, she was in charge of a number of technological and modernization projects including customer service digitalization, online and credit card payment processes, electronic procurement submissions and many other initiatives.

“I am very excited to join the team at the City of Niagara Falls and looking forward to working with City Council and staff on the challenges and opportunities of improving our customer service delivery, processes and practices,” Darlington said in a release.

She is expected to be a key leader as the City of Niagara Falls modernizes its customer service functions.

Noted Burgess, “We are pleased to welcome Ms. Darlington to the City of Niagara Falls. As she takes on this new leadership role, Shelley’s impressive skill set and extensive experience will be a great asset to the City as we transform and modernize our services.”
