There’s an exhibit in Niagara Falls that a locomotive buff like Sheldon Cooper and the child conductor in all of us couldn’t resist.

Locomoland, located at 5020 Centre St., has over 2,000 square feet of tracks, landscape, miniature people and, of course, trains, trains and more trains – more than 70 different ones in total.

Owner Walter Wang spent four years pulling it all together before opening in July 2020. Granted, with COVID-19 running rampant at that point, it was only this year that things have started to, well, roll down the track.

Once a basement project, Wang, at the urging of friends set it up large-scale in the Niagara Falls attraction at the top of Clinton Hill.

The website promises: “We offer various types of model trains and incredible railway models, including but not limited to, high speed bullets capable of achieving stunning scale speeds of 260 mph.”

“What’s more, we provide over 2,000 square feet of self-built magnificent miniature landscapes of countryside, cities, mountains, rivers, fairy lands, Star Wars aircrafts, and USA aircraft carriers for your trains to travel through.”

However, it’s much more than a museum for model trains, planes and automobiles as it’s completely interactive so good luck getting the remotes out of the hands of fathers.

“While enjoying the view of the trains running through the miniature train worlds in Niagara Falls, you will also be able to experience the engine driver and passenger perspectives of the miniature world through micro-cameras built into the trains,” the adventure promises.

“While operating model trains you can experience and learn various technologies such as the railway automation control system and digital car system. You can also experience driving Lamborghini slot cars and Locomoland’s unique propeller Airbus.”

Billing itself as “the largest model train layout in Ontario and the only high-tech, remote-controlled miniature railway system in the world,” there are also a retail component where wannabe conductors can buy and create their own world.

Locomoland is open noon to 6 Tuesday through Friday, 11 am to 8 pm Saturdays and 11 am to 6 pm Sunday. For more information, check: https://www.locomoland.com/
