One of the biggest and most popular family destinations in Niagara Falls is shutting down for a month over concerns of the spike in COVID-19 cases due to the highly-contagious Omicron variant.

Great Wolf Lodge, perhaps best known for its huge indoor water-park, sent out email notifications to anyone holding reservations notifying them of the closure.

A quick call to the lodge’s front desk revealed that they would be shut down from December 31 to January 28, 2022.

The staffer admitted it was due to the rise in cases – likely 3,000 active in Niagara Region by the new year with Niagara Fall sitting at 562 ongoing cases as of today (December 30). They also noted that they’d look at the situation as January 28 approached and assess whether an extension is needed at that time.
