NFL lineman from Pickering charged with weapons offences

A National Football League lineman from Pickering has been identified as among four people arrested in a Durham Regional Police guns and gangs investigation that discovered stolen guns and more than three kilograms of fentanyl.

Arizona Cardinal offensive guard Isaiah Derrick Adams, 25, along with his sister, Allyson Mae Adams, 27, are both charged with possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a prohibited device.

They are not facing any drug-related charges.

The DRPS Guns and Gangs Unit were investigating a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking on July 17 when the suspect and a woman were found in a vehicle in Ajax, along with more than three kilograms of suspected fentanyl.

Investigators, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Unit, later executed a search warrant at a home in Pickering where a second woman second was arrested after a loaded gun with prohibited overcapacity magazine and a replica Uzi firearm were located inside. The loaded firearm was confirmed stolen from Georgia.

Two days later a fourth outstanding suspect turned himself into police.

Jaelin Jared Gamble, 25, of Pickering and Natasha Marie Rotta, 32, of Ajax were both charged with possess schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl).

All were held for a bail hearing.

The football club issued a statement saying they were “aware” of the incident. “Out of respect for the process, we will refrain from commenting further at this time.”

Adams, who has returned to Arizona and is expected to be at training camp, was a third-round pick for the Cardinals in 2024 out of the University of Illinois after playing high school ball at Father Donald MacLellan Catholic Secondary School in Ajax.

He was selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
