Newmarket man killed in Scugog auto accident

A 55-year-old Newmarket resident is dead after his car left the road and struck a tree in Scugog Township Friday night.

The single-vehicle accident happened just before eight p.m. on Scugog Line 12, just east of Marsh Road. The man’s 2007 black Honda sedan was travelling eastbound when it veered to the opposite side of the road, partially rolling over, before hitting the tree.

First responders arrived within minutes, however the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
