Newmarket man identified as Mississauga murder victim

A 30-year-old man from Newmarket who died in a Mississauga hospital is Peel Region’s eighth homicide victim of the year.

Omar Simpson died shortly after walking into Mississauga Hospital just after 8:30 p.m. last night (March 25).

Original reports indicated that he had been shot but Peel Regional Police have subsequently changed their report now indicating that he was suffering significant trauma. Police say they are not releasing the cause of death as it is now part of their investigation.

The homicide squad is now looking into the area of Sunnyhill Dr. and Fieldgate Dr. as the potential scene where the victim sustained his injuries.
