Brampton celebrates the official grand opening of the Riverstone Community Centre next week.

The renovated centre opened on July 6 for drop-in and try-it programs but the city is hosting a grand opening on Monday (Oct. 3) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The building, purchased from the Riverstone Golf and Country Club in 2017, was converted to a 34,000 square-foot recreation facility. It now has an updated pool area, including a salt-water pool, expanded change rooms, fitness rooms and several multi-purpose rooms.

During the grand opening, residents can see program demonstrations including: Zumba, Body Sculpt, Paint Pouring and Preschool Music and Movement.

There will be facility tours every 15 minutes showcasing the amenities such as banquet rooms, the fitness centre, four squash courts, community rooms, lounges and an outdoor patio.

In addition, there will be air brush tattoos, balloon animals by Twinkles the Clown and light refreshments including popcorn, cotton candy, juice and water.

Six prizes are up for grabs in a random draw — one annual fitness membership and five one-month memberships. Also, the first 100 people who enter the draw will receive one 10-day trial fitness pass to be used at Riverstone Community Centre prior to Dec. 31, 2022.

“Our team in Community Services has been working hard behind the scenes for Riverstone’s Grand Opening, and we are looking forward to hosting residents and having a great opening event on October 3,” said Marlon Kallideen, Brampton’s commissioner, community services.
