While Le Clos Jordanne Winery has long owned a vineyard in the Jordan Valley area of Lincoln, soon they’ll have a bricks-and-mortar estate to go with it.

There is one catch. While their present vineyard will stay at 2540 S Service Rd. in the Jordan Valley area, their new spot is on Lincoln’s tourism destination Niagara Benchland.

Their parent company, Arterra Wines Canada, has purchased the present-day Angels Gate Winery at 4260 Mountainview Rd. in Beamsville and will soon shift Le Clos Jordanne into the existing estate.

Arterra said in a statement that Angels Gate Winery will continue to operate in its existing facility for the remainder of the summer.

That said, when Le Clos Jordanne takes the property over in the fall, for the first time, the winery will have an estate for wine lovers to visit, sample, and purchase its award-winning, terroir-focused, single-vineyard Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir portfolio.

“I am beyond excited that we have found the perfect home for Le Clos Jordanne and world-renowned winemaker, Thomas Bachelder, to continue to perfect his craft and delight wine lovers,” said Arterra President and CEO John Boynton.

“Not only do we have a beautiful location for tourists on the Beamsville Bench, but we have acquired even more high-quality grapes, grown on some of the best terroir, for Thomas to craft into some of the best wines in Canada.”

For his part, head Le Clos Jordanne winemaker Bachelder is excited to have a building to call Le Clos Jordanne’s own.

“The original goal of Le Clos Jordanne was to create a ‘domaine’ in the Niagara region, producing ultra-premium, Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, entirely from our vines,” said Bachelder. “I am thrilled to be able to expand that mission to include the terroirs of both the Jordan and Beamsville bench.”

To that end, Arterra and by extension, Le Clos Jordanne will maintain both the existing vineyard in Jordan and those surrounding the present-day Angels Gate Winery property.
