A website under development will help workers find jobs connected to Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

Pearson Works! Online aims to support the recovery, training and retraining of the Pearson workforce following the affects of the pandemic.

Created through Ontario government funding, the web portal will serve as a hub connecting more than 400 airport employers with thousands of airport workers by providing job opportunities, training and other supports to those who have faced job loss or reduced hours the past two years.

The Pearson Works! Online platform will be developed through a partnership with those in the airport community including labour groups such as the Toronto Airport Workers Council (TAWC) which has background in understanding worker needs as well as recruiting for the workforce.

“Over the past two years, the aviation sector workforce has demonstrated tremendous grit, innovation and resilience in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the impacts of COVID-19 on the airport, this funding will provide the foundation of our long-term vision for workforce recovery,” says Deborah Flint, president and CEO of the GTAA. “This funding will create a work environment that allows employees to build on their dynamic skillset and access available job opportunities across the airport to further the good jobs the airport facilitates. We thank the Government of Ontario for this support.”

Deepak Anand, parliamentary assistant to the minister of labour, Training and Skills Development and MPP for Mississauga-Malton, said the program is good news for those who live in his riding, many of whom work or have worked at the airport.
