A little Paradise by the waterfront light arrived in Ajax on the weekend with the opening of Town Brewery’s Paradise Beach Bar, located on the waterfront trail.
Open seven days a week, Paradise Beach Bar is a new outdoor space for residents and visitors to gather, connect and enjoy the waterfront and local craft beer, as well as food from Speak Easy Street Food.
The summer pop-up, following the Whitby brewery’s successful Pump House location on Whitby’s lakefront just to the east, will also feature a variety of family-friendly, non-alcoholic options.
“We are beyond excited to have the opportunity to open Paradise Beach Bar,” Jeff Talmey and his team at Town Brewery said. “Our vision is to create a vibrant, exciting and inclusive space for everyone in the Town of Ajax to be proud of. The goal is to create a community hub where residents can connect over food, drink, music and art. A destination for family friendly gatherings and cultural events, giving people another reason to get outside and enjoy Ajax’s beautiful waterfront.”

Paradise Beach Bar is easily accessible by foot, bicycle or other forms of active transportation, making it a natural stop for those exploring Ajax’s waterfront, said Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier.
“The opening of Paradise Beach Bar marks an exciting new chapter for our waterfront. This vibrant seasonal addition will create new opportunities for residents and visitors to gather, relax and experience Ajax in a fresh way all summer long,” he said. “We’re proud to partner with Town Brewery to bring this dynamic, community-focused destination to life along our beautiful shoreline.”
The Pump House, Whitby’s first water pumping station, opened in 1904 but had been dormant for nearly 40 years before being re-imagined by Town Brewery and re-opened as an open-air waterfront pub in 2023, with the brewery signing a five-year deal.
Paradise Beach Bar in Ajax is part of a pilot program that will see the bar open Monday through Friday from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Ajax Council had directed staff to explore pilot projects involving alcohol service in public spaces., with Town Brewery chosen as the operator following a town-led selection process.
