New toll rates have taken effect on Highway 407 ETR.
Tolls and fees have changed, while new toll zones and vehicle classifications have been introduced.
In a previous news release, officials with the highway said that for light vehicles, tolls would increase by three to 14 cents per kilometre, depending on the time of day and zone travelled.
The camera charge, account fee and transponder lease fee also went up.
The annual transponder fee is now $29.50 plus tax, which is up from $24.50. The annual fee for each additional transponder on the same account is $11.95, up from $9.95.
Transponders eliminate camera charges and account fees.
“With the adjustment to tolls and fees, the majority of personal transponder customers can expect a monthly bill increase of about $8,” officials said.
That’s $96 more per year.
Of course, it will vary from person to person, depending on when, where and how often they take the 407 ETR.
Motorcycles and medium-sized vehicles also now fall under a new classification to “better reflect a vehicle’s impact on the road.”
For instance, motorcycles will pay less than sedans, and large trucks will pay more.
