William Osler Health System is striving to stay on the cutting edge of technology when it comes to care and communication with patients.

With that goal in mind, Osler has partnered with SeamlessMD, a digital patient engagement platform, to help improve patient safety, quality and outcomes for surgery patients.

SeamlessMD works with health organizations across North American to provide patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery with a digital companion that assists them from surgical preparation through to their recovery at home.

With SeamlessMD, patients at Osler are guided before and after their surgical procedures with education, progress tracking and symptom monitoring after their procedure using their own devices (e.g. smartphone, tablet, computer).

Customized dashboards also enable the Osler care team to monitor the health of patients throughout their journey.

“SeamlessMD is helping us bring state-of-the-art technology and innovation to our surgery patients and deliver safer patient care even from a distance,” said Jane de Lacy, Osler’s vice president of clinical services.

The platform supports multiple languages including English, Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi, Portuguese, Italian and French, prominent in Osler’s diverse communities.

More than 2,500 patients have already benefited from the digital experience, with 90 per cent of patients recommending SeamlessMD to others to help manage their health at home following their in-hospital procedures.
Once patients give their okay, they can start using SeamlessMD and receive real-time updates and reminders on their appointments and surgery dates.
