Everest Tandoori Kitchen is having its grand opening today in downtown Hamilton.

The North Indian-Nepalese Hakka restaurant has teased its opening of its second location — the flagship is in Welland — for the past month, before announcing a Thursday opening. On its website, Everest says it focuses on serving authentic cuisines from those regions, as well as Hakka fusion dishes that commingle traditional Desi and Chinese flavours.

The location is the south hallway of the Jackson Square mall (2 King St. W.), and a glance at the menu suggests there is an emphasis on serving the lunchtime crowd. Everest is offering a $16.99 lunchtime special from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. daily, with three vegetarian and three meat options for entrée choices. It comes with dal makhani, butter naan, plain basmati rice, gulab jamun and two spring rolls.

The Bangalore-brewed Kingfisher, Cheetah Indian Beer and Utsav are offered as beer choices. There is also a menu of red, rosé and white wines.
