Running enthusiasts in Brampton are invited to check out the city’s newest physical fitness amenity with the unveiling of the Sandalwood running track.

The city cut the ribbon on the newly revitalized running track at Brampton’s Sandalwood Heights Secondary School on Monday. The existing track at the school has been resurfaced with synthetic material and is available for both student and community use outside of school hours.

The project was a collaboration between the City of Brampton and the Peel District School Board (PDSB), and is one of several joint projects underway including a new cricket pitch coming to Brampton’s Turner Fenton Secondary School.

“We are proud of the work we continue to accomplish together with the City of Brampton that not only benefits our students, but also the greater community,” David Green, chair of the Peel District School Board, said in a release. “This revitalized track will go a long way in supporting the health and well-being of our students and in helping young athletes pursue their passions.”

Just like the new Sandalwood track, the Turner Fenton cricket pitch will be open to students as well as community sports groups outside of school hours.

You can see the new Sandalwood running track at Sandalwood Heights Secondary School located at 2671 Sandalwood Pkwy East.
