A temporary shuttle bus route that will take passengers to and from Dixie Outlet Mall in Mississauga’s south end while nearby construction takes place was launched on Thursday.
Officials with MiWay, Mississauga’s public transit agency, said in an online update a new “one-way loop” will service Dixie Outlet Mall, Dixie Road, Lakeshore Road and Ogden Road via Long Branch GO station on the Mississauga-Toronto border until further notice.
The temporary shuttle will run daily and cover stops no longer served by Route 5 Dixie, which is on detour due to an “intersection reconfiguration” on Dixie Road.
Transit officials said the new Ogden Shuttle, as it’s been dubbed, “will travel in a one-way clockwise loop, servicing bus stops that are no longer served by Route 5 Dixie, which is on detour due to construction.”
Officials added Route 5 Dixie has been detoured to provide northbound and southbound service along Dixie Road to Long Branch GO station while the Ogden Shuttle will service the section of Ogden Road previously served by Route 5 Dixie.
The new shuttle will operate seven days a week. On weekdays, officials say, it will depart from Dixie Outlet Mall from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m. On Saturdays, departures will be from 4:40 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and on Sundays from 6:07 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Trips will depart approximately every 35 minutes, MiWay said.
Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation is making improvements to the Queen Elizabeth Way in east Mississauga, from east of Cawthra Road to west of Etobicoke Creek.
Construction began in May 2022 and is expected to continue for five years, with a currently anticipated completion date of July 2026.
