A Hamilton food company that specializes in Japanese cuisine has opened its very first storefront in heart of Dundas.

Hanma Japanese Foods celebrated its soft opening this past weekend at its new location at 103 King St. W in downtown Dundas.

Until now, Hanma’s fresh grab-and-go sandos, hand rolls, sushi, bowls and pantry items could be found (when they didn’t sell out) at east Hamilton’s Crownpoint Market.

At their new location, much of the same grab-and-go items that Hanma has become known for will still be available alongside a carefully curated selection of pantry items and fresh-made sushi.

For the next few weeks, Hanma will be open for just three days a week as the team is awaiting a very special delivery.

“We will be starting with a soft-open of reduced hours because we are ALSO expecting a new addition to our HANMA family in the next few weeks,” the owners said in a social media post last week, announcing the official soft opening of the new location.

“We aim to have our Full Hours and our Full Menu available by the end of May once our new little one is settled, and we can have the whole team at the store.”

In the meantime, Hanma is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
