If you can’t get enough of local policing, the Halton Regional Police Service has just the remedy.

Halton Police: The True Blue is a new, six-episode video podcast that will inform audiences about important topics impacting Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills.

The series will introduce some of the officers working in the community and give a behind-the-scenes look at policing in 2023.

“We are always exploring new and innovative ways to reach and engage with those we serve,” said Chief Stephen Tanner.

“This podcast series is part of our broader, long-term effort to ensure members of our community and beyond can not only learn about the important work we do, but also how they can help keep themselves and those close to them safer.”

Episode topics were selected based on questions police are often asked as well as their impact on public safety and well-being. Each guest is a subject matter expert in their respective area.

The topics for the podcaast series are:

  • Women in Policing with Superintendent Sue Biggs
  • Frauds with Det.-Cst. Derek Gray
  • Hate Crime with Sgt. Ryan Smith
  • Traffic with Const. Marc Taraso
  • Cold Case (Paavo (Paul) Henttonen) with Det. Ryan Eacrett
  • 40 Years in Policing with Chief Stephen Tanner

Each segment is hosted by Your TV’s Jason Agnew and features in-depth, unscripted conversations with officers on the given topic.

In addition to offering unique perspectives on the subject at hand, many – such as frauds, hate crime and traffic – offer valuable information and crime prevention and safety tips.

The podcasts can be downloaded on Spotify, Google, Apple podcasts or wherever you find their favourite podcasts, as well as on HRPS’ Vimeo and YouTube channels.

Planning is already underway to produce future episodes in-house at a later date.

“It is our hope audiences find our podcasts to be both informative and entertaining” said Tanner.

“As they are conversations, we encourage those tuning in to share them with their friends, family members, and those who may find them of interest, and to talk about them.”
