Parts of Henry & Beatrice Warden Park in Hamilton will be closed for the next six weeks for necessary upgrades to the play area.

And when it reopens by June 30 or so, it’s expected to have an entirely new look.

Following feedback received from Hamilton residents through a recent survey, the City of Hamilton will create new play areas specifically designed for children of different age groups (18 months to 12 years).

These new play areas will be located within the park, near the existing spray pad. One significant change will be the relocation of swings to the park’s new play hub.

Changes to the park are being brought about in the wake of a motion put forward by Ward 5 Councillor Matt Francis seeking to enhance safety and encourage more interaction among children.

Other park additions to expect include a rock wall, a climbing spinning net and a new swing set, all intended to help build a stronger sense of community among park-goers, City officials say.

Also, parts of Lake Ave. to the bridge will be upgraded to make the playground area more accessible to visitors.

City officials expect the park to reopen to the public by June 30.
