A new parking garage serving Ajax-Pickering Hospital and Lakeridge Gardens Long Term Care had its ‘soft’ or partial opening September 19 with the opening of the third level of the facility, g9iving visitors 390 new parking spaces.

Hospital administrators are blaming supply chain issues for the partial opening but are promising more openings within a week and full use of the 532 spaces by mid-October.

The maximum vehicle height is 2.75 metres or nine feet. Vehicles over the maximum height must park in the outside surface lots.

Vehicles can enter and exit through parking gates located on the north and south sides of the parking garage. Access to both entry and exit points for the garage is off the main internal hospital driveway. Staff and visitors are to use the most northerly entrance (closest to the east entrance of the hospital) while Lakeridge Gardens visitors are encouraged to use the south entrance.

There are 21 parking spaces designated on the second level or P2 for Lakeridge Gardens visitors and residents.

To ensure the best patient experience possible, a portion of the west parking lot (accessible via Kitney Drive or the hospital driveway from Harwood Avenue), will be accessible to patient/visitor parking only, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Currently, access to the east parking lot is restricted to staff. Effective today (September 19) access to this parking lot will revert back to patient, visitor, and staff parking.

Four charging spaces for electric vehicles will be installed in the coming weeks.
