The city is honouring the contributions of Italian Canadians that have helped shape Brampton with the christening of a new park.

The City of Brampton unveiled Amore Italian Park on Tuesday, paying tribute to the thousands of Italian Bramptonians who call the city home. Amenities at Amore Italian Park include two shade shelters, a playground, and a pathway system for residents to explore.

“With more than 25,000 Italian Canadians in Brampton, this park celebrates the important contributions of the community to our city,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in a statement.

The dedication comes on the heels of the city’s Italian Heritage Month celebrations in June with a community flag-raising and reception at Brampton City Hall.

The city thanked St. Anne’s Italian Seniors Club and the Italian Cultural Centre for their participation in the unveiling and contributions to the project.

The park, which is located at 55 Halliford Pl., was constructed in 2022.
