The Wilcox Gastropub is located on the corner of Hurontario and Eglinton and is situated in the Wilcox House – one of Mississauga’s oldest  Heritage Homes which features Greek and Gothic detailing and was built by Amos and Charles Wilcox in 1850.

Daniel Nguyen, Joseph Le and Cong Nguyen are young entrepreneurs who grew up in Mississauga and have over 35 combined years of experience in the hospitality industry.  They took ownership of the former Scruffy’s Irish Pub seven months before completely revitalizing the space and transforming it into an “elevated pub experience,” according to Daniel.

The space pays homage to the building’s heritage and its descendants and is named after the Wilcox’s themselves. It boasts an interior that respects the traditional space with new and modern accents that bring the resto to a new level. Their cocktail list also features more traditional cocktails, such as the classic Burnt Old Fashion.

The space is well lit with a skylight and a lot of windows, dark tufted benches that line the lounge area with natural wood accents and modern pieces that are scattered throughout the restaurant. There are three floors which include the lounge, the lower area and a gorgeous upper dining area that can also be booked for private functions.

Unique for:
This is not your average pub. They’ve got confit chicken wings on the menu.

Menu: Executive chef Humberto Sanchez is the creative talent behind the menu who happened to also be a contestant on Chopped Canada. The menu features everything from pork sliders to poutine, Scotch egg, ceviche, cassava frites, braised short ribs, an18oz bone-in rib eye steak and confit of duck leg. Everything from the sauces to the bread is made in-house and the bread is baked every morning. The drink menu includes a good selection of craft beers and wine.

Signature Dish: Duck of Confit Leg and the Wilcox Burger

Signature Drink: Dockside Ceasar, which is a play off of a classic Ceasar using whiskey instead of vodka

Why Mississauga? “We all grew up in Mississauga and wanted to create something special without having to drive downtown (Toronto), “says Daniel.
