Opening Date: October 23rd, 2013

Unique for: Goodfellas Pizza is Mississauga’s very first restaurant offering authentic Neapolitan wood oven pizza. The kitchen is led by Chef Antonio Danieli (in the picture above) who is a certified Neapolitan pizzaiolo and has been making pizzas for over thirteen years in his home town, Naples, Italy.

Concept: Goodfellas Pizza’s co-owners Rocco Giovannelli and Rick Taddeo are not newbies to the pizza scene as they are the founders of both Gino’s Pizza and 241 Pizza (they’ve since sold the businesses), and are now embarking in a dine-in style restaurant which focuses on authentic Southern Italian cuisine.

Prosciutto Arugula –  Mozzarella di bufala, fresh tomato, proscuitto crudo, fresh arugula, shaved parmeggiano reggiano flakes, and extra virgin oil

Certified Neapolitan Pizza defined: Authentic Neapolitan pizza is a certifiable designation which respects the culinary traditions of the pizza as it originated in Naples, Italy. True Neapolitan pizza constitutes key components including the specific ingredients, preparation, and cooking technique involved in making the pizza. It is made from a wheat flour known as Italian dopio zero flour, and the pizza is cooked in a wood-fired oven at temperatures above 900 degrees Fahrenheit. And it’s quite a sight to see your personal Napoletana pizza being cooked, right before your eyes, in 90 seconds flat.

Menu: A variety of authentic Napoletana pizzas including the Margherita Pizza which is topped with San Marzano sauce, mozzarella fiore di latte, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. You will also find authentic Romano pizza, and homemade pastas which are all freshly made in-house. The Maccheroni alla Carbonara pasta dish includes pancetta, egg yolks, pecorino romano, and black pepper. The menu also includes appetizers, salads, fish and meat entrees, and desserts. The mozzarealla di bufala, and parmigiano-reggiano cheeses are some of the ingredients they use which are directly imported from Italy. Goodfellas boasts an extensive Italian wine selection which was specifically chosen to pair beautifully with the dishes on the menu.

Why Streetsville/Mississauga?: About a year ago, co-owner Rocco Giovannelli wanted to celebrate his wife’s birthday and drove around downtown Streetsville to find a restaurant, but couldn’t find a place that would work for his wife’s celebration. It was at this point that he felt there was an opportunity and demand for another restaurant in Streetsville. He ultimately quit his job, spent a year planning Goodfellas Pizza concept, and here we are today.

Next location: Rocco Giovannelli and Rick Taddeo are planning expanding the same concept (non-franchise model)  in the following areas: Port Credit, Burlington, and Oakville.

Seats: 100 on the inside, 50 on the patio.
