A new Mississauga dessert place offers a sweet dish from Thailand made from an old family recipe.

Mango Sticky Rice opened recently at 1727 Lakeshore Rd. W. in Clarkson.

Offering authentic Thai desserts, the place has three types of coconut-based sweet rice dishes.

The mango sticky rice combines fresh cuts seasonal mango and sweet coconut rice topped with coconut cream.

There’s an egg custard sticky rice that blends traditional Thai egg custard and sweet coconut rice.

Lastly, their pandan buns are coconut pandan (fragrant tropical plant) custard made from fresh pandan juice with four brioche buns.

They also have a selection of hot and cold Thai teas and coffee.

The shop’s signature dish and namesake, mango sticky rice, comes from the owner’s grandmother who would make the dish in the summer.

“The moment we arrive at her house, an inviting plate of this creamy glutinous rice paired with sweet ripe mangoes, drizzled with yummy coconut sauce is already waiting for us as if it’s her way of giving us a welcome embrace,” they write on their website.
