It was recently announced that the Ontario government is investing additional funding to improve a new school in the Town of Milton.

This week, it was announced that the provincial government is investing an additional $2 million to improve the former Milton #3 CSS to be named Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School.

The school will be part of the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) and will be located at Louis St. Laurent Ave. and Kennedy Circle E. in Milton.

During the virtual press conference on Jan. 18, MPP Gill confirmed that St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School will support the creation of 69 student spaces as well as provide flexibility to families in the community.

“The new addition at St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS is great news for our community,” said Parm Gill, Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton.

“This investment will provide choice and flexibility for families and new opportunities for the children of Milton. As we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will ensure our children have a safe in-person learning environment.”

This is the third school expansion since 2018, in addition to the six new schools in Milton and this project is part of a province-wide investment of over $600 million that supports new schools and child care spaces.

Additionally, as part of its plans for a safe return to school, the provincial government has also allocated over $600 million to support ventilation improvements in schools across Ontario.

The HDSB has also benefited from an investment of $7.2 million for ventilation improvements.
