The Town of Milton has opened two new low-level pedestrian crossovers.

Pedestrian crossovers, which can be identified by specific pavement markings and crossing signs, are designated areas where pedestrians may cross the road safely. They can be located at intersections, mid-block and at roundabouts.

The new crossovers are located at Yates Drive south of Lott Crescent at pathway and Coxe Boulevard north of Pearen Avenue at E.W. Foster Public School.

As a result, the Town is reminding drivers to fully stop and wait until pedestrians completely cross the road before proceeding. This makes a pedestrian crossover different from a regular crosswalk, where drivers don’t have to wait until the pedestrian reaches the other side.
