New lottery game launched in Ontario

A new limited-time lottery game has been launched to mark the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s 50th anniversary.

To kick off its 50th anniversary celebrations, the OLG is launching Wintario50, the corporation announced in a news release.

Tickets for the raffle-style game are available now until the one-time draw on Aug. 14.

Wintario was the OLG’s first lottery game.

Wintario50 has 800 guaranteed prizes that total more than $5 million.

The OLG website says that there are 100 guaranteed prizes of $50,000 (which is the top prize), plus 700 other cash prizes.

Individuals can also enter the Wintario50 community contest for a separate chance to win $5,000 and to nominate a United Way region for a chance for it to win up to $250,000, OLG said.

Wintario50 can be bought for $5 per play or three plays for $10 at participating lottery retailers or on OLG.ca.

The OLG said that over the next six months, it will be having a series of 50th-anniversary themed games and contests.
