Calling all Lego fans: it looks like a new Lego store is opening in Toronto, and it’s set to be the first ever Lego store that’s located in downtown Toronto. And it looks like there may be more on the way.

Eagle-eyed observers have spotted signage going up for a new Lego store in downtown Toronto, and it wasn’t long before photos had been taken and posted to social media. Signage has also been spotted in Mississauga.

“Replacing Rodd & Gunn, near the southern Queen St. entrance. This is the first official Lego store that’s in the downtown area, the next closest Toronto locations are at Yorkdale mall and Fairview mall,” reads a post on Reddit.

Someone else mentioned in a comment that there’s also a location in Etobicoke found at Sherway Gardens.

“Buddy of mine told me there’s one coming to Square One in Mississauga, as well,” someone else commented on the Reddit post, accompanied by a photo of similar signage.

Several people shouted out that they hope new Lego storefronts in Toronto will follow the lead of other Lego stores around the world, and release some kits that are specific to Toronto and possibly build a display in the front window that references the local area.

“I saw Italian themed sets in Italy. Shame Canada doesn’t have any sets,” one person wrote in a reply on Reddit.

“One of the Lego stores in Chicago had this window display,” another person wrote, attaching a photo of the display. “It would be cool if a Toronto store could get something similar with Toronto landmarks.”

“I really wish we’d have a flagship street facing store like in New York. Toronto/Canada specific sets, would be really neat,” someone else added.

“I agree. I just visited the store in Rome and it was wonderful,” another person responded on Reddit.

“Lego has a series of sets that are little models of iconic skylines. For example, I know they have a Paris one with the Eiffel Tower. I’d personally be pretty interested in such a set for the Toronto skyline with the CN Tower,” one other person suggested in a reply to the Reddit post.

It remains to be seen whether these Lego stores will fulfill requests for Toronto-specific displays, but either way new sources for Lego are coming.

Lego has not responded to requests for comment on when the new stores in the Greater Toronto Area will be opening.
